It is time for us to get ready for the biggest Bengali festival of all time – Durga Puja. Bangla-O-Biswa has celebrated the arrival of Mother Goddess Durga for over 40 years, ever since its inception. This year will be no exception!

যোগমায়া আর লাবণ্য।

ছোটবেলা থেকে পাশাপাশি বাড়িতে থাকতো। একসাথে খেলতে খেলতে, গানবাজনা করতে করতে কখন যে celebrated music director duo মায়া-বন হয়ে গেলো ওরাও ঠিক জানে না। আবার যে সে সঙ্গীত পরিচালক নয়, বেশ কিছু chart-topper দেয়া, জাঁদরেল, award-winning সঙ্গীত পরিচালক! ওদের composition গুলো যেন পুরোনো আর নতুন সব instruments নিয়ে এক জাদুর খেলা!

গুবগুবি আর দোতারা মিলেমিশে একাকার হয়ে যাচ্ছে distortion guitar আর saxophone এর সঙ্গে। লোকে বলে মায়া-বনের music ওদেরই মতন: উচ্ছল, স্বচ্ছ, যেন এক দমক খোলা হাওয়া।

কিন্তু commercial success এর rat race এ দৌড়োতে গিয়ে হঠাৎ যদি creativity নামক চাকাটা গাড়ি থেকে খুলে গড়গড়িয়ে অন্য কোথাও চলে যায়? লোকে যদি তাদের চেনা ফর্মুলার খাঁচা থেকে বেড়োতে না দেয়, কি করবে মায়া-বন?

Pousali Banerjee is an Indian singer. She has participated in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2017. a singing reality show which airs on Zee Bangla. She is known for singing many folk songs in Bengali. She has sung many songs like Pindare Polasher Bon, Bhromor Koiyo Giya, Kolonkini Radha, Uma Elo, Nitai Chander Dorbare, Sairon Bajlo, Kyamone Chinibo Tomare and many more.

Anjan Dutt (born 19 January 1953) is an Indian film director, actor, and singer-songwriter known for his work in the Bengali alternative music genre anyodharar gaan. As an actor, Dutta began his career in Bengali cinema in the Mrinal Sen film Chaalchitra, for which he won the best newcomer actor award at the Venice Film Festival. He acted in Aparna Sen‘s hit film, Mr. and Mrs. Iyer. In 2018 he featured in Swapnasandhani‘s new play Taraye Taraye, as Vincent van Gogh, under the direction of Kaushik Sen.

He is also a national award-winning filmmaker and is one of the most prominent directors of Bengali cinema, directing Dutta Vs Dutta, Madly Bangalee, The Bong Connection, Chalo Let’s Go, and Ranjana Ami Ar Ashbona. In recent years, he has directed a Byomkesh film series

In his singing career, Dutta was greatly influenced by the music of Bob Dylan, Kabir Suman who had heralded a new era in Bengali music through his songs. These songs and lyrics, commonly referred to as Jeebonmukhi (জীবনমুখী )(literally meaning “towards life”), were concerned with the tough reality of Bengali middle-class social life, in and around Kolkata.

Dohar (Bengali: দোহার) is an Indian folk music musical ensemble that specializes in the styles of greater Bengal as well as the North East India. It is very popular in the Indian states of West Bengal, Assam and in Bangladesh.

Dohar has popularised Bengali and Assamese folk music. They have played for various Bengali communities in India and abroad.
